Our Lady of Holy Cross College

Before and after shots of OLHCC's Web siteLike many institutions in New Orleans, Our Lady of Holy Cross College had to adjust plans amidst the uncertainty and loss following Hurricane Katrina. Redevelopment of OLHCC’s Web site would support institutional goals of expanding enrollment, raise much-needed funds and reconnect stakeholders of the College on campus and around the region.

Zehno conducted strategic research that revealed most stakeholders did not use the site on a regular basis. They considered the information out-of-date and the navigation not user-friendly. Zehno teamed with the school to completely redesign the site with external audiences foremost in mind. The site’s new look was designed to complement the existing visual identity established in print recruitment materials. Key changes include

  • Sophisticated page layouts and type treatments to simplify the interaction while creating a more exciting, engaging and visual experience
  • Use of storytelling and graphic devices and photography to make a powerful, emotional connection, including a random rotating “Seriously” fast fact at the bottom of each page to coordinate with OLHCC’s Get Serious branding campaign and profiles titled “Our Family” that reinforced the close-knit community of this regionally drawing college
  • Strong, diverse color palettes
  • Showing the mission and the ministry of the College as it is evidenced in the lives of students and alumni
  • The implementation of the Ingeniux content management system to allow in-house resources to take over the day-to-day management of the site.

Zehno helped OLHCC execute the redesign of the site with deliverables including a recommendations report, a site map, wireframes, design comps, XHTML templates and a build out of the site. OLHCC provided new and edited content.

The Web site launched in May 2007.
