This project, part of our ongoing relationship with the Province, conceives of the Jesuits’ Internet presence as not merely a Web site, but a virtual community. The new site projects the Province as people experience it: not simply a regional structure, but as the connective fiber between people, ministries, and cultures. It is an important development tool, showcasing ministries that need support in creative ways that will capture the interest of prospective donors.
Content, design, and functionality reflect the Province’s commitment to partnership through a high level of dialogue and interactivity, including:
Jesuitscalifornia.org extends the power of the Province’s core messages and its cross-media communications platform. In particular, story updates and Web-only content supplement Mission magazine, for which Zehno provides strategic consulting and creative services. This cross-functionality also drives new site visitors to affiliate, make financial contributions, and therefore be added to the Mission mailing list. Site visitors can also subscribe to an e-newsletter for new content alerts.
The new site launched in July 2006 to positive feedback. Within the first few weeks of the launch, the site had seen daily averages of more than 500 visitors and amassed 250 registered users.
The Web site is also helping to rekindle relationships. One of its most popular features is the "Find a Jesuit" tool, which allows readers to get in touch with a Jesuit of the California Province via e-mail request.
Jesuitscalifornia.org is already proving to be effective in strengthening connections with benefactors and colleagues - lay and religious alike.
