Columbia Business School’s magazine, Hermes (named for the Greek god of trade, commerce and travel), is circulated to 32,000 alumni and others twice a year.

Throughout our 15-year relationship with Columbia Business School, Zehno has partnered with the school to create a publication that links current and future alumni to the school through its relevant, riveting story-telling and compelling design, photography and graphics. Our work has included two redesigns (10 years apart) to update the look and editorial mix.

Each issue is written and edited by business school staff and designed and produced by Zehno.

Up until 2003, the only Web presence for the magazine was a downloadable PDF and “Write a Letter to the Editor” feature, both hidden in the Publications office Web area.

As part of our work on Columbia’s school-wide Web site, Zehno recommended using the high-quality articles, photography and illustrations published in Hermes as a primary source of content for the school-wide site’s news and features promotions. Zehno believed that this compelling content would draw readers in and reinforce the school’s communications messages.

Each issue of Columbia Hermes online is wrapped in the design of the school-wide site so visitors can access all other areas of the school site. A table of content greets visitors to allow for quick scanning of the latest edition’s stories. Article pages use a “related links” section to direct readers to the program, research center and faculty Web sites that are relevant to the article topic.
