Case Study

Columbia Business School
MBA viewbook cover and Web site, Center page design

Since 1992, Zehno has developed strategies and approaches for Columbia Business School in virtually every communications area — in print and online. Our services have encompassed most functional areas of the school — Dean’s Office, Alumni Affairs, Development, External Relations and individual departments.

We have defined consistent branding schoolwide (“Global… New York… Columbia;” “The New York Advantage”), we have developed trademarked key lines for specific programs (“Learning that Powers Performance” for Executive Education), and we have carried a consistent image across all departments and communications tools from Hermes, the alumni magazine, to viewbooks, extensive direct mail and Web sites ranging from the school-wide to those for specific centers to those that are promotion tools for events abroad.

In addition to traditional communications consulting, Zehno has served as a trusted advisor in the school’s successful major Web development initiative, providing feedback and advice on how to best use e-mail and the Web to create excitement and interest in the school’s offering.

During our involvement, the school has risen from #16 to #5 in Business Week ratings, its executive education program has been rated #1 worldwide by Financial Times, and applications have more than doubled. Columbia Business School is now among the most selective in the country, accepting about 13% of those who apply from across the world.
