Shane brings to Zehno 20 years of experience in the higher ed trenches. He’s navigated the landmines of campus politics, launched new projects nobody thought could happen, helped institutions discover distinctive voices, dragged slow-moving projects across the finish line and helped push enrollments to record levels.

His work has won more than 100 regional and national awards from CASE, UCDA, and the Admissions Marketing Report.

At Kansas State University, he worked with units across campus on projects including the relaunch of the university website, implementation of a CRM system, lobbying the legislature for additional funding, developing a communications plan for the satellite campus and marketing Open House (a recruitment event that attracts 20,000 people). He also led the launch of multiple cross-media enrollment management packages.

An in-demand presenter on communications trends, student recruitment, web writing and other topics, he won the CASE Crystal Apple for outstanding teaching in 2005. As a faculty member of the CASE Summer Institute in Communications and Marketing, he’s coached hundreds of institutions on how to improve their publications, websites and marketing strategies.

His freelance work includes covering Sarah Palin’s hometown for the Times of London, writing celebrity gossip for Britain’s #1 teen magazine and editing a state bar association magazine (for lawyers, not drunks).

He’s a graduate of Baker University and the University of Wales at Cardiff. He collects mid-century modern and maintains the world’s greatest jukebox on his iPod.
