Our Woman of the Storm: Zehno Strategist Twice Honored

Diana Pinckley

Diana Pinckley, Senior Communications Strategist, was twice honored recently for her pro bono work dedicated to Women of the Storm. The activist group invites Congress, presidential candidates and other opinion leaders to visit New Orleans to witness first-hand the post-hurricane destruction and the progress the city has made.

“Hurricane Katrina: Devastation and Progress and Her Lessons for Us All,” a self-guided audio tour, is nominated for an “Audie Award,” presented by the Audio Publishers Associated for excellence in audiobooks. Using the two-CD tour, drivers can listen to personal stories about the most affected neighborhoods, local tales of heroism, and the science behind coastal erosion and restoration. Winners will be announced May 30.

The audio tour is available for purchase at www.alanet.com as well as stores throughout the New Orleans area. A portion of the proceeds go to organizations working to rebuild New Orleans.

This December, the Web site for Women of the Storm was named one of the top five non-profit Web sites in the nation by PR News, as part of the Non-Profit PR Awards. Diana collaborated with others from local firms to create a Web site that illustrated the impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The Non-Profit Awards celebrate excellence in communications among nonprofit organizations across the globe. Judges select winners based on quality, as well as the site’s effectiveness in building membership, incorporating public relations strategies into the site’s success, and raising issue awareness.
