![]() Recipients are chosen based on successes in business and contributions to the New Orleans community. The eighth annual Women of the Year awards luncheon will be held November 10 at the Sheraton Hotel. One honoree will be awarded Woman of the Year by past winners at the celebration. Working as a strategist with Zehno, Pinckley develops marketing communications plans and tools, primarily for higher education. As head of Tulane University’s public relations office for a dozen years, she guided a staff of 15 in building successful marketing, public relations and communications strategies, with particular focus on admission and fundraising. She owns a communications consultancy, Pinckley Inc., founded in 1993. Since Hurricane Katrina, she has been an especially energetic community activist as a member of the executive board of Women of the Storm, a group that encourages members of Congress to visit the area and see its challenges and progress for themselves; as a public relations volunteer for the New Orleans Public Library; as a fellow of the ECOnomics Institute and its Crescent City Farmers Market; and as public relations advisor for the Edible Schoolyard New Orleans. An honors English graduate of Duke University, she writes a regular mystery book review column in the New Orleans Times Picayune and is author of New Orleans: River Region Renaissance, a portrait of the Crescent City published in 1996.
